CARO HOME Dorm Trend Survey

Market Research Data Visualization Using Excel:

During my 2024 Summer internship at CAROHome, I was given a project where I created and sent out a survey about people's dorm decor and dorm bedding preferences. The purpose of this survey was to help the design and product development team come up with ideas for their new “dorm in a bag”, which included bedding, towels, and other dorm necessities that customers could buy at once. CAROHome is a small business that specializes in high-quality towels with high-quality designs. Their largest customers are wholesalers such as TJX and Costco, but they also sell some of their designs exclusively on the CAROHome site.
Where do you buy your dorm bedding?
Asked participants to choose from a list of CAROHome’s customers (Target, Homegoods, etc.) as well as their aspirational brands (Dormify, Pottery Barn, etc.)
How do you but your dorm bedding?
Asked participants whether they buy their dorm bedding online, in person, or a combination of both. This is important as CAROHome mostly sells its products in stores. This question tells the salespeople of CAROHome whether the CARO website needs to be more active for the dorm line.
Asked participants what type of covers they use for their dorm. The results suggest that the majority of college students prefer comforters over duvets. Most likely due to the convenience of not having to put the duvet cover back on after washing it.

What are your dorm bed accessories?
Asked participants for the additional dorm bed accessories they use. CAROHome used this to decide what products they should include in their “dorm in a bag”.
What’s your material preference?
CAROHome sells both cotton and polyester products, depending on the product and customer. This question is meant to understand whether college students have a preference for bedding material or whether they even know the difference.
